Sam was born and raised near San Antonio, Texas where he grew fond of the outdoors. This led him to pursue studies in parks and recreation at Texas A&M, Clemson and is now pursuing his Doctorate at the University of Georgia. Sam's research interests mostly revolve around green infrastructure in urban communities, along with protected area management and outdoor recreation experiences. His desire is to teach and conduct research at the university level upon completion of his Ph.D. Sam, his wife, (Abby), and son (Walker) live in Greenville, South Carolina with their dog, Gus.
